Arangetram
The Arangetram, or the debut performance, is a cherished and unique tradition of our college, symbolizing a pivotal milestone in a student’s journey in the performing arts. This event serves as the culmination of rigorous training and dedication, where students perform for the first time as solo artists, showcasing the skills and mastery they have developed under the guidance of their teachers. It is both a celebration of the student’s accomplishments and a rite of passage that marks their transition from a student to a proficient performer. The Arangetram not only reflects the college’s commitment to preserving and promoting classical art forms but also emphasizes our dedication to nurturing well-rounded, culturally enriched individuals ready to contribute to the world of performing arts.
Arangetram is one of the most important aspects of fine arts training. Especially during the period when Bharatanatyam and musical arts developed in the Gurukula system, arangetram was practiced as the pinnacle of Gurukula training. At this current time where, Gurukula system has transitioned to university mode of education, this ancient practice of arangetram is celebrated as a pinnacle of their training and the college offers exclusive programme for arangetram thereby reserving the ancient traditions in its pristine purity.
Each year, our college holds an Arangetram performance to highlight students’ academic excellence and artistic skills. This event allows students to showcase their talents to an audience of parents, relatives, friends, and the public, demonstrating their individuality and inspiring others. The performance features not only the core syllabus but also a variety of new dance and music forms. It benefits students by revealing the unique attributes of their teachers and offering a platform for full-time undergraduate and integrated undergraduate students at the end of February.
The college provides opportunity for our students to work as teachers in the training center run by Kalai Kaviri Fine Arts Academy, a sister concern of this college, and to act as moderators in the stage events held there.
