Policy for Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)
The college is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace for all employees. This policy outlines the structure, roles, and responsibilities of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), which addresses and resolves complaints related to sexual harassment and other forms of workplace misconduct.
Roles and Responsibilities of the ICC
- The ICC is responsible for receiving complaints of sexual harassment or misconduct.
- ICC Conducts a thorough and impartial investigation into the complaint. It gathers relevant information, interviews witnesses, and reviews any evidence related to the complaint.
- ICC aims to maintain the confidentiality of the complainant, respondent, and any witnesses involved. It ensures that all proceedings and records are kept confidential, except where disclosure is necessary for the investigation or required by law.
- ICC aims to provide recommendations to the management for appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation. It suggests measures such as disciplinary action, counselling, or policy changes to address the issue and prevent future occurrences.
- ICC Prepares and submits an annual report to the management on the complaints received and actions taken.
Complaint Procedure
- Filing a Complaint: The complainant should submit a written complaint to the ICC within three months of the incident.
- Initial Review: The ICC will review the complaint and decide whether it falls under the scope of this policy.
- Investigation: The ICC will conduct an investigation, ensuring that both parties have the opportunity to present their case.
- Resolution: The ICC will provide recommendations based on the investigation findings. The management will implement these recommendations.
- Appeal: Either party may appeal the decision within 30 days of receiving the outcome.
Disciplinary Actions
Depending on the severity of the misconduct, disciplinary actions may include:
- Verbal or written warnings
- Suspension/ Termination
- Legal action, if necessary
